Russia will become China's largest natural gas supplier. It must be said, however, that negotiations regarding gas pricing are still stalled between China and Russia
On June 28, Miller, president of Gazprom, said that Gazprom will start exporting 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China annually via the Far East Line in 2027, and Russia will then become China's largest natural gas supplier.

Gazprom's Telegram Channel quoted Miller as saying: In 2027, the Far East Line with an annual supply of 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas will be put into operation. With the full operation of the Power of Siberia and the Far East Line, Russia will become China's largest natural gas supplier.
The Power of Siberia is a natural gas pipeline from Russia to China, about 3,000 kilometers long.
At the end of 2019, the pipeline began to supply gas, starting from the Chayanda gas field in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of Russia.
Three years later, gas supply began from the Kovykta gas field in Irkutsk Oblast, Russia. In 2023, Gazprom exported 22.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas through the Power of Siberia pipeline. According to the plan, the Power of Siberia natural gas pipeline will reach an export capacity of 38 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year in 2025. In early 2022, a long-term agreement on the transportation of natural gas via the Far East route was signed.
After the natural gas pipeline is fully operational, Russia's natural gas supply to China through the pipeline will increase by 10 billion cubic meters, totaling 48 billion cubic meters per year.
It must be said, however, that negotiations regarding gas pricing are still stalled between China and Russia.
