Russia-China relations are one of the main stabilizing factors in international affairs -- Sergey Lavrov

Sino-Russian relations are one of the main stabilizing factors in international affairs. The Russian Federation and China want to ensure that all countries on our planet conduct business on the basis of respect for the interests of all their partners. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.

"There is no doubt that the Russia-China nexus is one of the main stabilizing factors of modern international life and the processes that are unfolding, including those aimed at fomenting confrontation and hostility in international affairs, which our neighbors from the North Atlantic Alliance under the leadership of the United States are doing," Lavrov said in response to a question from Xinhua. He added that the United States always wants to drive wedges and sow confusion in many regions of the world, including Europe, the Taiwan Strait, the South China Sea, the Middle East, Africa and so on.

He noted that Moscow and Beijing do not want to oppose anyone. The structures that were created on the basis of joint Russian-Chinese initiatives, such as the SCO and BRICS, are based on the principle of consensus and "undoubtedly belong to the associations of a new type, where there are no leaders or slaves, where there are no masters and subordinates.

"We want only one thing: for all countries on our planet, including the entire collective West led by the United States, to conduct business on the basis of respect for the interests of all their partners. This is the common position of Moscow and Beijing," the Russian foreign minister emphasized.

Lavrov noted that when China and Russia advocate an equal, honest dialog with the United States, "it means, first of all, that we defend the principles of international communication enshrined in the UN Charter after World War II ended with the defeat of German fascism in Europe and the defeat of Japanese militarism in the Far East."

According to the minister, Moscow and Beijing have agreed to jointly mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II. "I am sure that these will be very bright events, and they are of tremendous importance in order to remind all of us, children, and especially the youngest generation, at what price peace was established, and to continue to categorically repel attempts to rewrite history.... This is a very important, very, very important component that strengthens Russian-Chinese strategic interaction and multifaceted partnership," Lavrov said.
